A27 Lane Closure in Sompting Causes Week-Long Traffic Delays
Motorists using the A27 eastbound at Sompting are facing significant delays after a lane closure was put in place after a collision with traffic lights.
The lane, which runs between the A24 south and the junction with the A2025, was shut on Monday and is expected to remain closed until Wednesday, September 4.
The closure follows an incident where a vehicle crashed into the Hillbarn traffic lights, leading to emergency repairs. As a result, drivers have been experiencing long queues, particularly during peak hours, with tailbacks extending to the A24 at Worthing.
The situation is expected to worsen next week when schools across the county reopen, potentially exacerbating traffic congestion in the area. National Highways advises motorists to plan their journeys accordingly to avoid delays.
