Adur Councillor Nigel Jenner Dies Suddenly

Tributes have been paid to Adur District Councillor Nigel Jenner following his sudden death, less than a year after being elected to represent Buckingham ward.
Cllr Jenner was elected to Adur District Council in May 2024 and quickly became a respected figure within the authority. He served on the council’s licensing committee and held vice-chair positions on both the planning committee and joint overview and scrutiny committee, as well as the joint staff committee.
Council leader Cllr Jeremy Gardner described him as a “measured, informed, hardworking councillor” who was admired across party lines. Cllr Gardner highlighted Jenner’s previous experience in public service and praised his warmth and intellect, calling him “a kind human being with a sharp brain, a wry smile and a heart of gold”.
Fellow councillors have also expressed shock and sadness at his passing, noting his dedication and the impact he made in a short time. Cllr Jenner’s contributions to local government were acknowledged in a statement released by Adur & Worthing Councils on Monday.
