Angmering Residents Protest Farmland Developments

Angmering | August 5, 2024

Residents of Angmering are rallying against new development projects on local farmland.

An action group, Protect Farmland West of Bewley Road, has been formed to contest these plans, citing strain on local services and disruption to the community.

Lucy Todd, a resident of Angmering for nine years, leads the group. She highlights the increasing difficulty in accessing the village’s medical centre and the community’s frustration with the continuous influx of developments. “We feel like we have had more than our fair share of developments,” Todd stated. The group has distributed 2,000 leaflets and received numerous emails from concerned residents, aiming to mobilise mass objections to future planning applications.

Arun District Council, responsible for planning applications in the area, assures that each application will be evaluated based on the development plan, the National Planning Policy Framework, and other relevant considerations.

Meanwhile, the action group continues to grow, encouraging residents to voice their opposition and protect the remaining open spaces in Angmering.
