Christmas Day Fires in Worthing Flats Suspected as Arson
Two fires at a block of flats in Worthing on Christmas Day are being investigated as deliberate acts of arson, according to police. Emergency services were called to the Clifton Road property twice during the early hours of December 25.
The first fire was reported at 2:27 am, followed by a second incident at 4:20 am. Sussex Police have launched an investigation and stated that a police presence will remain in the area while enquiries continue. Thankfully, no injuries were reported in connection with the fires.
West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service dispatched seven fire engines and an aerial ladder platform to the scene. Firefighters using breathing apparatus brought the flames under control with high-pressure hoses and ventilated the property. Witnesses are urged to contact Sussex Police online or via 101, quoting serial numbers 84 or 134 of 25/12. The cause of the fires remains under investigation.
