Community Celebrates Worthing Centenarian's 103rd Birthday with Huge Response

A Worthing care home resident’s 103rd birthday was made extra special after a community appeal for birthday cards drew an overwhelming response. Miss D, who has no family, received hundreds of cards, gifts, and visits from locals.

Emma Armstrong, deputy manager at Hollywynd Care Home in Worthing, posted the appeal on Facebook, asking for cards to mark Miss D’s milestone birthday. The community rallied together, sending hundreds of cards and gifts, and local groups joined the celebrations. Among the visitors were Worthing’s mayor, Morrisons staff delivering flowers and a cake, and St Mary’s Primary School children singing happy birthday.
