Dispersal Order Issued After Violence Erupts in Worthing Town Centre
A dispersal order has been issued in Worthing town centre following an outbreak of violence and disorder involving a group of youths outside the Guildbourne Shopping Centre. Police were called to the scene on Monday night (October 14) after reports of a fight, leading to increased security measures in the area.
According to Adur and Worthing Police, the Section 60 Dispersal Order, which was in place until 11pm, allowed officers to stop and search pedestrians and vehicles within a designated area. This follows two reported assaults and one arrest made in connection with the incident. The dispersal order covered key streets, including Madeira Avenue, Gratwick Road, and Teville Road.
Police have assured the public that a heightened presence will remain in the town centre while the order is in place, aiming to prevent further unrest and maintain safety in the community.
