Drive-Thru Restaurant Approved in Worthing Despite Opposition

Plans for a new drive-thru restaurant at the MRH Brooklands petrol station on Brighton Road, Worthing, have been provisionally approved despite opposition

Submitted by Motor Fuel Group (MFG) in November 2023, the proposal involves extending the current sales building to include a ‘food-to-go’ restaurant outlet, alongside jet washes and a reconfiguration of the car park.

Despite the plan’s promise of enhanced service station facilities and adherence to policies encouraging business flexibility, the identity of the restaurant moving in remains undisclosed.

The proposal has faced significant opposition from local residents. Tim Loughton, MP for East Worthing and Shoreham, also raised concerns over increased congestion on an already busy A259, and a potential rise in air pollution.
