Driver Escapes Unharmed as Tree Branch Smashes Through Windscreen on A283

A driver experienced a close call on the A283 near Shoreham when a large tree branch, dislodged by a lorry and smashed through their car’s windscreen.

The incident occurred yesterday afternoon on the stretch between Dacre Gardens and Shoreham, just north of the A27 junction.

According to Sussex Roads Police, the branch was struck by a high-sided HGV, subsequently breaking off and colliding with the car travelling in the opposite direction. Fortunately, the car had no front seat passenger at the time, and the driver escaped without injuries.

Sussex Police are now seeking witnesses or anyone with dash cam footage of the incident to come forward. They can be contacted with any relevant information by quoting CAD 904 14/5/24.
