Efes Turkish Restaurant in Worthing Expands Into Adjacent Building

A Turkish restaurant in Worthing is expanding after receiving approval to take over a neighbouring cafe and former escape room. Efes Town Restaurant, located on Portland Road, will extend into the adjacent two-storey building, creating new dining and kitchen spaces, as well as additional job opportunities.
Adur and Worthing Councils granted permission for the expansion on February 11, allowing the restaurant to convert the former cafe on the ground floor into a dining area with a serving bar and toilets. The first floor will serve as a preparation space, featuring a kitchen and staff washroom. To support the new facilities, an extraction duct will be installed, exiting through the roof.
The expansion is expected to create five full-time and three part-time jobs, contributing to the local economy. The council’s planning report noted that the project aligns with the town centre’s night-time economy goals, supporting its vitality and viability. Environmental health officers raised no concerns about the kitchen ventilation system, confirming that the extension will primarily serve doners, chips, and pizza.
