Firefighter Recruitment Opens in West Sussex
Applications to join West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service as a full-time firefighter are now open, with the service encouraging individuals to consider this highly rewarding role.
The recruitment campaign, launched on January 6, seeks applicants who are empathetic, problem solvers, effective communicators, and physically fit. Chief Fire Officer Sabrina Cohen-Hatton highlighted the diverse nature of the job, which includes engaging with communities, responding to emergencies, and ongoing training. “It really is the best job in the world,” she said.
Core responsibilities for firefighters include promoting safety awareness, building local knowledge to respond efficiently to incidents, maintaining equipment, and participating in training. Councillor Duncan Crow, Cabinet Member for Community Support, Fire & Rescue, stressed the importance of the campaign in ensuring the service remains equipped to protect communities.
