Firefighters Battle Blaze in Derelict Lancing Laundrette

Lancing | June 5, 2024

Firefighters in Lancing tackled a significant blaze that erupted in a derelict laundrette on Alma Street.

The fire, which started just before 7pm on Tuesday evening, led to the closure of surrounding roads and the evacuation of nearby residents.

West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service dispatched five fire engines to the scene, where firefighters in full breathing apparatus worked to control the flames.

This is not the first incident at the old laundry site, which has been derelict for two decades. A similar fire occurred in 2019, which was later treated as arson by the police.
