Heavy Rain Causes Disruption Across Worthing

Heavy rainfall across Worthing and the surrounding areas has led to significant disruption, with road closures, a sinkhole, and event cancellations.

The Met Office has issued a warning for persistent rain, which remains in effect until midnight on Saturday.

The A24 has been closed at Ashington due to flooding, leading to significant travel delays. In addition, a sinkhole has appeared on Gratwicke Road near the car park of Our Lady of Sion School. West Sussex County Council is working with Southern Water to repair the damage and ensure public safety.

The Worthing Lions have also announced the cancellation of their car boot sale, scheduled to be held on Broadwater Green on Saturday, 7th September.

The Military Boot Sale due to be held at Shoreham Fort on Saturday has also been cancelled due to the unfavourable weather forecast. This was the final sale of this year, and event organisers will announce the date for the start of next year’s season in due course

Lancing FC have announced that the Under 18s FA Youth Cup match tonight has been postponed.
