Heene Ward Councillor Resigns Triggering Second Worthing By-Election
Richard Mulholland has resigned from his position as the councillor for Heene Ward, creating a vacancy that will lead to a by-election later this year in Worthing.
This resignation adds to the series of electoral activities in the area, with another by-election already scheduled for the Marine Ward.
Richard was first elected to Worthing Borough Council in May 2018, going onto serve on the Licencing and Overview and Scrutiny committees. The upcoming by-election date will be revealed in due course.
Earlier this week Radio Worthing reported another by-election date to fill the vacant Marine Ward seat following the resignation of former Worthing Borough Council leader Dr Beccy Cooper after she became the new MP for Worthing West.
Voters participating in these by-elections will be required to present photo identification at polling stations, in line with recent changes to voting regulations. Those without a photo ID can apply for a Voter Authority Certificate by Wednesday, 11th September. Further details on how to obtain the necessary voter ID can be found on the Adur and Worthing Councils’ website at https://www.adur-worthing.gov.uk/.../photographic-voter-id/
