High Developer Interest in Grafton Car Park Redevelopment Project
Worthing Borough Council has reported substantial interest from developers for the redevelopment of the Grafton multi-storey car park located on Marine Parade.
The council confirmed that numerous national companies have expressed eagerness to participate in the transformation project.
Last year, the council decided to sell the car park along with neighbouring shops to a developer with the aim of creating at least 150 new homes, as well as improved leisure facilities, commercial units, and green spaces.
The land on offer includes the car park, a bowling alley, the Level 1 food and drink area, a few shops on Montague Street, and access roads, covering an area approximately the size of a football pitch.
To accommodate the redevelopment, the council ensured that other car park facilities in the town would meet demand. Councillor Caroline Baxter highlighted that Worthing’s car parks are generally well below capacity. She noted that the ageing Grafton car park requires significant investment to remain safe, further justifying its redevelopment.
Interested developers have until the end of May to register their interest with CBRE, the council’s marketing agent.
