Investigation Concluded into Suspicious Package at Gatwick Airport

Police have concluded their investigation into a report of a suspicious package at Gatwick Airport, with the site now deemed safe.

Officers from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team safely handled the package, allowing the airport to return to normal operations.

Two individuals detained during the investigation were released and allowed to continue their journeys. Authorities have confirmed that there will be an increased police presence in the area to support passengers accessing the South Terminal for onward travel.

Officials emphasised that the safety of the public, staff, and airport users remained the top priority throughout the incident. They also thanked the public for their patience during the disruption.
