Labour Retains Control of Worthing Council in Local Elections
Labour has successfully retained control of Worthing Council following the latest local elections. The party has secured 26 seats, a net gain of three.
Labour - 26 (+3)
Conservative - 9 (-3)
Green - 2 (+1)
Liberal Democrat - 0 (0)
(Counting Complete with 13 out 13 seats declared at 14:40pm)
The Labour Party’s strategic gains were evident, notably in Northbrook where Dom Ford overcame opposition with a 130-vote majority.
Furthermore, Christina Shane-Chan captured a seat previously held by the sole Liberal Democrat councillor, marking another victory for Labour.
Incumbent Labour councillors like Beccy Cooper and John Turley successfully defended their positions in Marine and Gaisford wards respectively, further stabilising Labour’s dominance.
Meanwhile, the Conservative Party faced setbacks, losing three seats to bring their total to seven.
The Green Party made modest gains, adding one seat to their previous total, now holding two seats.
Voter turnout was 34% in Worthing.
