Lancing Church Celebrates Centenary with Special 'Centenary Praise' Event
St Michael and All Angels in Lancing held a special event to mark its centenary, featuring music, hymns, and guest compère Pam Rhodes from BBC’s Songs of Praise.
The celebration, titled Centenary Praise, drew a packed crowd and showcased performances from the Worthing Salvation Army Band and the Boundstone Chorus.
The evening featured a variety of hymns, including ‘O Praise ye the Lord’ and ‘To God be the Glory’, alongside Handel’s Hallelujah Chorus. Three talented young pianists from Roedean School also contributed to the musical programme. Father Felix Smith, Vicar of St Michael’s, expressed gratitude for the occasion, noting the significance of the church’s 100-year legacy.
Further centenary celebrations are planned for December, with a special visit from The Bishop of Chichester, Dr Martin Warner, to mark the centenary of the church’s consecration.
