Man Arrested After Series of Suspicious Fires at Worthing Flats

A man has been arrested on suspicion of arson following a series of suspicious fires at a block of flats in Worthing.

Police confirmed that a 41-year-old man was arrested on January 22 after an investigation into four suspected arson incidents at Victoria Court on Clifton Road. The incidents occurred on October 11, Christmas Day, January 9, and January 17. Emergency services evacuated the building during the January 9 incident, although no injuries were reported.

Detective Sergeant Harry Mansbridge from Worthing CID assured residents that police are working hard to identify those responsible. Authorities believe the incidents are linked and are appealing for any information, including relevant CCTV, doorbell, dashcam, or mobile phone footage from the area.

The man has been bailed with strict conditions as enquiries continue. Anyone with information is urged to contact Sussex Police online, quoting serial 1213 of 09/01 or serial 114 of 17/01.
