Man Charged with Kidnap in Worthing Incident

A 20-year-old man has been charged with kidnap following an incident in Worthing.

An investigation was launched after concerns were raised for the welfare of a 7-year-old boy on Broadwater Road, Worthing, at approximately 3.30pm on 24 June. The boy involved in the incident is unharmed and safely back with his family.

John Perkins, from Worthing, was arrested and charged with kidnap. He appeared before Lewes Crown Court on 27 June and has been remanded in custody. Perkins is scheduled to appear again at Lewes Crown Court on 24 July for a plea hearing.

Police have assured the public that this was an isolated incident and advised against speculation about the circumstances.
