Man Jailed for Knife Robbery at Worthing Petrol Station
A man has been sentenced to four years in prison after threatening a petrol station worker with a knife in Worthing.
Matthew Maule, aged 38, entered the petrol station on Findon Road, Worthing, at approximately 5 am on February 8. The worker reported the robbery to Sussex Police, who issued a public appeal for information leading to Maule’s identification and arrest. Maule was later apprehended on suspicion of robbery and possession of a knife in a public place.
On May 3, at Lewes Crown Court, Maule, formerly a groundsman from Gravits Lane, Bognor, pleaded guilty to charges of robbery, possession of a knife in public, and possession of a bladed article in public. He received a four-year prison sentence.
Detective Inspector Gary Jacobs commended the public’s assistance in the swift identification and arrest of Maule.
