Massive Pothole Causes Concern Among Motorists

Ashington | March 28, 2024

A substantial pothole in Hole Street, Ashington, has been described as “lethal” by local motorists.

The pothole, measuring around eight inches deep and five feet wide, was likened to an “artillery crater” by an anonymous motorist who had to swerve to avoid it.

A West Sussex County Council spokesperson responded stating that this was the first time the pothole had been brought to their attention.

The council has planned an inspection and repair, and highlighted an increase in extreme weather events as a contributing factor to the worsening road conditions in our area.
