New Sensory Raised Beds Installed at Tarring Park
A community project has led to the installation of new sensory raised beds at Tarring Park in Worthing, with the support of Adur and Worthing Councils.
These beds feature pollinator-friendly and drought-tolerant plants, selected by local ecology expert Barbara Shaw, and are designed to be accessible for all visitors to enjoy.
The initiative involved volunteers from Friends of Tarring Park, the Tarring Park Rotary Club, and park ranger Adam Scott, who contributed to sourcing the wood and constructing the planters.
Funding for the project was raised through a charity carol concert at the Ardington Hotel, with additional donations of earth, topsoil, compost, and bark chippings from local businesses and neighbours.
Tarring Park, which also boasts a multi-use activity area, children’s play equipment, and refurbished tennis courts, will host a family event, Picnic in the Park, on August 16.
