Plans for Padel Courts at Worthing Rugby Club Withdrawn Amid Noise Concerns
Plans to build padel tennis courts at Worthing Rugby Club in Angmering have been withdrawn due to concerns over potential noise impacts on nearby residents.
The application, submitted by Padel Projects UK, faced objections from Arun District Council’s environmental health team, who highlighted the lack of a noise impact assessment.
Council officials advised the applicant to withdraw the proposal and resubmit it with the necessary noise assessment, warning that without it, the application would likely be rejected. The council also confirmed that they would not grant an extension for the noise report, requiring the entire plan to be resubmitted for further consideration.
A representative for Padel Projects expressed frustration at the setback, noting that it took two months to prepare the original application. However, the company is now working on resubmitting the plans with a noise impact assessment and additional acoustic measures to address the council’s concerns.
