Plans Submitted to Change Northbrook College Campus In Broadwater Into New Police Station
Northbrook College’s Broadwater campus in Worthing could soon become a new police station if plans submitted to Adur and Worthing District Council are approved.
The proposal, registered under reference AWDM/0869/24, seeks to repurpose the educational establishment into a police hub for Sussex Police.
If the plans are approved, the college campus will host around 600 to 700 police officers and staff, primarily during regular working hours. The new site will include a public-facing front counter, neighbourhood policing teams operating from 8am to 11pm, and a 24/7 neighbourhood response team.
The relocation is expected to free up the current police site at Centenary House, which is earmarked for residential and employment developments under the Worthing Local Plan.
The proposal follows the announced closure of the Broadwater Campus next summer, with current courses set to move to the West Durrington campus.
Public comments on the proposal are now open through the Adur and Worthing District Council Planning Portal.
