Plans to repurpose the China Palace restaurant in Worthing into residential flats were turned down by the Adur and Worthing Councils, citing a failure to meet local housing policy standards.
The project, proposed by Saville Architects, intended to convert existing spaces into 11 duplex flats, with an added storey to accommodate three additional units.
The development was rejected on April 22 as the council were “not satisfied that the necessary affordable housing contribution” matched the council’s housing policy.
