Public Inquiry on Chatsmore Farm Housing Development to Resume in September
The public inquiry concerning the proposed housing development on Chatsmore Farm in Goring will recommence in September after a delay earlier this year.
Worthing Borough Council is set to continue its opposition to the development of 475 homes on the green gap between Worthing and Ferring, a proposal put forward by Persimmon Homes.
The hearings, which are open to the public, will begin on Tuesday, 17th September at 10am in the Gordon Room at Worthing Town Hall. Additional sessions are scheduled from 9:30am to 4:00pm on the 18th, 24th, 25th, and 26th of September, with further sessions planned for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd of October. These dates were rearranged after the original inquiry, scheduled for February, was postponed due to the illness of the presiding inspector.
Worthing Borough Council has made it clear that they oppose the development, citing the importance of preserving green spaces such as Chatsmore Farm for public health and environmental reasons. The Council intends to use the inquiry to reiterate its stance against the housing proposal, which has already been the subject of multiple court challenges lost by Persimmon Homes.
