Retired Antiques Dealer Fatally Attacked in Worthing Home
Retired antiques dealer Michael Martin was discovered dead in his flat in Worthing, having been subjected to a brutal attack that resulted in multiple blunt and sharp force injuries, an inquest has heard.
The 72-year-old victim was found at his residence on St Botolph’s Road on March 22, where emergency services pronounced him dead at the scene.
Sukhjit Bains, 46, from Crawley, has been charged with the murder of Mr Martin and appeared via video link at Lewes Crown Court for a preliminary hearing, with a trial set for August.
Detective Inspector Amanda Zinyama of Sussex Police, the Senior Investigating Officer on the case, expressed continued support for the victim’s family and emphasised that the incident appeared to be isolated, posing no further threat to the community.
The police have appealed for additional witnesses or anyone with relevant information to come forward quoting Operation Orchid.
