The Royal Navy bomb disposal team has successfully detonated a grenade at the Willowbrook Road recycling centre in Worthing.
Sussex Police received a report of a suspected hand grenade at the recycling on May 16.
The incident prompted the establishment of a 100-meter cordon and the evacuation of nearby businesses.
Dramatic footage captured the explosive moment in scrubland adjacent to the waste facility, resulting in billows of brown smoke ascending into the sky.
