Scammers Target Elderly in Rustington and Littlehampton
Elderly residents in Rustington and Littlehampton have been targeted by scammers posing as council workers demanding money for grass cutting services.
Arun District Council has issued an urgent warning to residents, advising them not to give money to these individuals and to report any incidents to the police.
The scammers are reportedly knocking on doors of elderly residents, claiming to be from Arun District Council and demanding payment for grass cutting. The council has clarified that they would never request money at residents’ doors for such services and urged the community to be vigilant and to share this warning with vulnerable individuals who might be at risk.
A spokesman for Arun District Council stated, “We are aware that individuals in Rustington and Littlehampton are knocking on doors of elderly residents saying they’re from Arun District Council and demanding money to have their grass cut. This is not the council. Please report any incidents of this type to the police.”
