Shoreham and Southwick Residents Warned After England Flags Painted on Roundabouts
Residents in Shoreham and Southwick have been cautioned after England flags were painted on several mini-roundabouts.
The red lines, mimicking the St George’s flag, appeared on Thursday morning, coinciding with England’s second game in the Euro 2024 tournament.
West Sussex County Council, responsible for the roads, has warned against such actions, citing safety concerns. A spokesman from the council emphasised that painting on live carriageways is dangerous and could distract drivers, potentially leading to accidents. They also highlighted the expense incurred to restore the roundabout back to the original state.
The affected roundabouts include locations on Middle Road, Shoreham, Manor Hall Road, Southwick, and outside The Amsterdam pub on Old Shoreham Road, Shoreham.
