Shoreham’s Southlands Hospital Opens Advanced Diagnostics Centre
A new community diagnostics centre (CDC) at Southlands Hospital in Shoreham is now fully operational, offering advanced medical services and modern facilities.
The centre features state-of-the-art CT and MRI scanners, along with cutting-edge X-ray rooms, ultrasound facilities, and specialised treatment areas for gynaecological and respiratory care. Completed in two phases, the facility was funded by NHS England and aims to provide diagnostic services closer to patients’ homes, reducing travel and wait times. The director of Southlands and Worthing Hospitals, Stephen Mardlin, highlighted the centre’s benefits, calling it a “one-stop” model of care.
Patients can access the services via their GP or hospital referral. The new centre boasts four ultrasound rooms, two lung function testing rooms, and an echocardiography area. Operational manager Jemma Deane praised the innovation and teamwork that brought the project to life, stating that the centre enhances healthcare services while fostering staff development in a progressive environment.
