Southlands Hospital Diagnostic Centre to Expand Services
A community diagnostic centre (CDC) at Southlands Hospital in Shoreham is set to expand its services, enabling it to treat more patients and offer additional diagnostic procedures.
The centre, which has already treated over 27,000 patients since its opening in October, provides crucial diagnostic services outside of busier hospital sites.
Currently, the CDC offers CT and MRI scans, as well as advanced X-ray facilities, allowing patients to access care more quickly and closer to home, reducing the risk of cancellations. The upcoming expansion will see the centre add services such as echocardiography, gynaecological, and respiratory procedures, all expected to be available by August.
A spokesman for University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust highlighted the benefits of the CDC, stating that it simplifies access to healthcare by eliminating the need for patients to travel to busier sites like Brighton or Worthing.
