Storm Bert Brings 70mph Winds to Sussex Coast

Gusts of up to 70mph are expected to hit the Sussex coast today as Storm Bert prompts weather warnings across the region. The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for wind in Sussex and Surrey, in effect from 9am today until 9pm tomorrow.

The Met Office warns of “strong winds likely to cause dangerous coastal conditions and disruption.” Coastal areas could face flying debris and large waves, while inland locations may experience gusts of up to 60mph. Power cuts, damage to buildings, and transport disruptions are also possible.

Coastal visitors are urged to stay safe, avoiding large waves.
