Sussex Police Increase Efforts to Tackle Anti-Social Behaviour on Trains

Sussex Police have intensified their efforts to address anti-social behaviour on trains, with officers stationed at Littlehampton and Worthing to engage with passengers on safety concerns.

The initiative, part of Operation Parkside, involves Sussex Police and British Transport Police (BTP) working together to reduce crime on the Southern Rail network. Reports indicate an increase in onboard offences over the summer, prompting this targeted response.

Ch Insp Sarah Leadbetter described the initiative as a “robust response” to issues including drinking, fighting, and fare evasion, which have left some passengers feeling unsafe.

The police have been gathering feedback from various stations in West Sussex where previous actions have led to reported improvements. Ch Insp Leadbetter confirmed that the force remains committed to tackling crime and ensuring safer travel for all passengers across the network.
