“Sussex Police Issue Warning on Rogue Traders Scamming Residents in Worthing"

Worthing | April 4, 2024

Sussex Police have issued an urgent warning to residents of Worthing about rogue traders scamming people through unsolicited cleaning services for driveways and roofs, leading to extortionate charges.

Multiple incidents have been reported from the Worthing area, as well as nearby Arun and Bognor. Victims have been subjected to excessive fees for services they did not agree to, raising concerns about the methods employed by these fake traders.

One tactic used by these scammers is cleaning a small section of a property without the homeowner’s consent, then pressuring them into paying for the entire job to be completed. These rogue traders have also been reported as illegally using water from fire hydrants to carry out their services.
