Sussex Police Warns of Rising Number Plate Thefts
Sussex Police have issued a warning to vehicle owners following a surge in car number plate thefts in the Adur and Worthing areas.
Police are now distributing free theft-resistant screws in an effort to combat the increase in these incidents.
Vehicle owners are being encouraged to visit Worthing Police Station on Chatsworth Road to collect the theft-resistant screws. These screws are designed to deter thieves, who often steal number plates to disguise stolen vehicles. The screws are available on a first-come, first-served basis due to limited stock.
In addition to distributing the screws, Sussex Police have advised vehicle owners on other measures to protect their cars. These include installing tracking devices, fitting alarms, and ensuring all doors are locked. The initiative aims to reduce the number of thefts and increase vehicle security across the region.
