Tarring Secures Over £75,000 for Flood Prevention Improvements
Tarring is set to benefit from £76,616 as part of West Sussex County Council’s Operation Watershed programme, aimed at improving flood resilience in the area.
The funding will support the Tarring Flood Action Group in efforts to reduce flooding risks that have impacted homes and businesses.
The grant will go towards infrastructure enhancements such as installing new gullies and improving road surfacing in key locations across Tarring. Specific areas set for improvements include the junctions at Becket Road/Pavilion Road/Lanfranc Road, South Street/Guildford Road, and Church Road/Vestry Place, among others. These upgrades aim to mitigate flooding that frequently disrupts the community.
Operation Watershed, established in 2013, has so far funded 495 projects across West Sussex, providing over £4.4 million to assist communities in managing flood risks. The latest funding allocation, totaling £215,346, was approved on Tuesday by Councillor Deborah Urquhart, cabinet member for environment and climate change.
