Tom Rutland Launches Campaign to Become Labour MP for East Worthing and Shoreham
Tom Rutland has commenced his campaign to become the first Labour MP for East Worthing and Shoreham, focusing on reducing NHS waiting times, tackling antisocial behaviour, and improving water company regulations.
In a recent speech to local activists, Rutland, 32, outlined his plans to enhance community services and support. He promised to cut NHS waiting times by increasing local appointments, combat antisocial behaviour with more neighbourhood police, and put water companies under special measures. Rutland emphasised the need for change after 14 years of Conservative governance, stating, “Our community deserves better than the past 14 years of Tory decline.”
Labour Party leader Keir Starmer expressed his support, highlighting the broader Labour agenda to provide economic and political stability.
The campaign comes as the Conservative incumbent, Tim Loughton, announced he will not stand in the next election. The Liberal Democrats are also fielding candidate David Batchelor, while the Conservatives have yet to announce their candidate.
