Vandalism Spree in Worthing Damages Public Spaces and Concerns Council

Worthing Borough Council has voiced frustration following a series of vandalism incidents across the town, which have damaged newly installed community features.

Several public amenities in Worthing have recently been targeted by vandals, prompting concerns from local authorities and a call for public assistance. The latest incident saw brand new noticeboards in Montague Gardens vandalised within just 24 hours of installation. Other targeted sites include Steyne Gardens, where planters and a decorative timber clock provided by a visual impairment charity were destroyed, and Brooklands Park, where a food dispenser was reportedly set on fire in a suspected arson attack.

Council officials expressed disappointment over the deliberate damage to facilities intended to enhance the town’s environment and serve the community. A spokesperson for Worthing Borough Council stated that such acts divert vital resources away from other public services, as time and money must be spent on repairs rather than community improvements.

Residents with any information about the acts of vandalism are urged to contact Sussex Police via the non-emergency number 101. Authorities hope that community support will help identify those responsible and prevent further damage to local public spaces.
