Wall Collapses on Car in Worthing

A wall collapsed onto a car on Bashfords Lane, Worthing, prompting an emergency response from fire crews and police on Thursday afternoon (January 23).

West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service received reports of a dangerous structure at 1:51 pm, deploying one fire engine and an aerial ladder platform to the scene. On arrival, firefighters found that a wall had collapsed, leading them to cordon off the area and use hydraulic equipment to stabilise the remaining structure. Crews worked to ensure the site was safe.

Sussex Police supported the operation by facilitating road closures around Bashfords Lane, which was taped off at both ends. The swift response ensured the structure no longer posed a threat to public safety. No injuries have been reported, and investigations into the cause of the collapse are ongoing.
