Woman Arrested After Fire at Worthing Bungalow

A fire at a bungalow in Worthing is being investigated as arson after emergency services responded to multiple calls reporting the blaze. A woman has been arrested as part of the ongoing investigation.

West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service received the first call about the fire on Twyford Road, Durrington, at 12:40pm on Sunday, 16 March. A total of 12 calls were made to emergency services, prompting a large response with six fire engines dispatched to the scene. Fire crews arrived to find a well-developed fire affecting both the ground floor and roof space of the bungalow. The blaze was brought under control, preventing it from spreading to neighbouring properties.

A joint investigation between the fire service and Sussex Police is ongoing. Police confirmed that a 55-year-old woman from Durrington was arrested on suspicion of arson following initial enquiries. Authorities have urged anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in the area to come forward by contacting police online or by calling 101, quoting reference 468 of 16/03.
