Woman Jailed for Unprovoked Assault in Worthing
A woman has been sentenced to prison for a severe, unprovoked assault that left a man with permanent facial injuries, including part of his ear cut off.
Sussex Police reported that the attack occurred near the Montague Centre on Liverpool Road, around 2am on December 10, where the victim, a 43-year-old man, suffered grievous harm.
Learna Wood, 47, of Southwick, used a Stanley knife in the attack, causing significant facial disfigurement to the victim.
Wood was apprehended following a public appeal by the police. She pleaded guilty on charges of Section 18 grievous bodily harm and possession of a knife in a public space.
Wood appeared before Lewes Crown Court on March 27, where she received a sentence of three years and six months’ imprisonment and was also ordered to pay £228.
