Worthing Primary School Faces Pupil Admission Cuts
Plans to reduce pupil admission numbers at a school in Worthing are currently under consultation, closing on January 10.
West Sussex County Council has proposed reducing the published admission number (PAN) at West Park Primary School in Worthing from 120 pupils per year to 90. The move follows data suggesting a surplus of school places, leading the school to approach the council about the changes.
A council spokesperson explained that reducing surplus places would help the school achieve full classes, minimising financial risks and enabling better resource allocation for pupils’ needs. The consultation also reviews admission arrangements across all schools for the academic year 2026-2027.
Residents can access the consultation documents and submit feedback via the county council’s website or by emailing SchoolConsultations@westsussex.gov.uk before the January 10 deadline.
