Worthing Car Parks Face Further Construction Delays
Two multi-storey car parks in Worthing are experiencing further construction delays.
Worthing Borough Council’s cabinet member for regeneration, Caroline Baxter, reported that the Worthing Integrated Care Centre (WICC) and the Buckingham Road car parks will not be completed on their expected schedules.
Initially projected to be finished by May 23, the WICC’s construction is now expected to extend into the summer due to delays in material delivery from Europe. The project, which started in February 2022, has also seen its costs rise from £34 million to £42.4 million.
Similarly, the Buckingham Road car park, closed since 2021 for works initially planned to conclude by summer 2022, now aims for a reopening in February 2024.
Councillor Baxter noted that the completion of these projects is highly dependent on the delivery schedules of the required materials, but she expressed optimism about the imminent opening of these facilities.
