Worthing Community Groups Receive £205,000 in Funding Boost
Twenty-seven community groups and voluntary organisations in Worthing have successfully secured almost £205,000 in funding from Worthing Borough Council’s Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) Neighbourhood Fund. The fund, which is contributed to by local developers, is used to support projects that benefit residents and improve the wellbeing of the community.
Among the funded projects are Turning Tides’ mindfulness gardening initiative, Humber Avenue Community Allotments’ social hub, and youth-focused schemes like a new club by The Sid Youth and day trips for families organised by Family Support Work. Additionally, community facilities will benefit from upgrades, with St Botolph’s Church and Goring-by-Sea Cricket Club set to improve their amenities.
Environmental projects have also been recognised, including bee workshops by We are Pollinator Pioneers and conservation work in The Goring Plantation. This year’s applications were reviewed by community panels, and groups that were not successful have been invited to reapply or seek support for future bids.
