Worthing FC Expresses Disappointment Over FA Cup Replay Decision
Worthing Football Club has officially voiced its disappointment following the Football Association’s recent decision to abolish replays in the FA Cup.
The statement, issued on the club’s website, highlights their concern over the lack of consultation with the teams most affected by this change.
According to the club, the decision was made without sufficient dialogue with the lower-tier clubs, who believe that replays are crucial for their visibility and financial health.
But the FA says discussions have been going on for “well over a year”.
“Removing Emirates FA Cup replays was discussed in the early meetings and all parties accepted that they could not continue,” said a statement from the FA.
“The discussions then focused on how to make all of our competitions stronger, despite having fewer dates available and wanting to maintain player welfare.”
