Worthing Heat Network Construction Begins at Homefield Park
Installation Work has started at Homefield Park in Worthing to install an insulated underground pipe as part of the first phase of the Worthing Heat Network.
The project, undertaken in partnership with Hemiko, aims to provide sustainable heating to various buildings and homes across the town. The construction involves temporary measures, including the use of track mats to protect the grass and the installation of fencing along the southern pathway of the park. To ensure safety, a dedicated marshal is supervising all vehicle movements, and a pedestrian diversion route has been established.
The underground pipe being installed at Homefield Park is a crucial part of the heat network, which will initially connect six public buildings, including Worthing Hospital, Town Hall, and Connaught Theatre. The project is expected to significantly reduce the town’s carbon emissions by an estimated 3,000 tonnes annually, equivalent to removing over 2,000 cars from the roads.
The current phase of construction, including the work at Homefield Park, is anticipated to be completed by November, with the overall project scheduled for completion by 2026.
Upon the project’s completion, Hemiko and local authorities have committed to restoring Homefield Park to its original condition.
