Worthing Heat Network May Disrupt A259 Traffic Before Christmas

Developers of the Worthing Heat Network have proposed extending work on the A259, potentially disrupting traffic in the weeks leading up to Christmas.

Hemiko, the company selected by Worthing Borough Council for the Worthing Heat Network project, is planning to extend its work schedule on the A259, impacting traffic between December 9 and December 18. Despite the anticipated disruptions, High Street Car Park will remain accessible through a one-way system, according to a company spokesperson.

To mitigate the impact on local businesses and shoppers, Hemiko has announced four free parking days in Worthing’s multi-storey car parks, including November 29 and December 21-22. West Sussex County Council has yet to approve the extended schedule, stating that it is consulting with local stakeholders to determine if the extension aligns with community needs. Hemiko’s broader construction plans for the High Street area will run from November 23 to February 9, pausing briefly from December 19 to January 6 to reduce holiday disruptions.
