Worthing Man Arrested for Theft and Assault

A 45-year-old man from Worthing has been taken into police custody following allegations of theft from a shop.

Sussex Police responded to reports of a man threatening staff at a supermarket on Newland Street, Worthing on Saturday, March 30.

The suspect fled the scene in a vehicle and was stopped and arrested by officers nearby.

The man faces charges of theft from a shop, possession of a controlled Class A drug, eight counts of common assault of an emergency worker and remains in police custody as investigations continue.
