Worthing Man Jailed for Possession of Indecent Images of Children
A Worthing man has been sentenced to four years in prison for possession of indecent images of children and breaching a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).
Lewis Peters, 31, was arrested at his home on 3 June following an intelligence-led operation by Sussex Police’s Online Child Abuse Team (OCAT).
Peters was already subject to a 10-year SHPO, which he had received in April 2023 for previous offences. His possession of these images constituted a breach of the order.
At Hove Crown Court on 5 July, Peters pleaded guilty to three counts of making an indecent photo of a child, four counts of breaching a SHPO, and possession of extreme pornographic images. He was sentenced to four years’ imprisonment on 16 July.
Investigator Maisie Upjohn of Worthing OCAT stated that Peters’ determination to continue offending, despite the SHPO, led to his significant custodial sentence. She emphasised the serious nature of the offences and the harm caused to the victims depicted in the images.
